Discrete Mathematics

Discrete Mathematics

This course is a deep dive into the mathematical backbone of computer science, covering everything from how bits work to the logic behind programming.

course content

The course covered these and some other topics:

  • Numerical Systems (Binary, Octal, Hexadecimal)
  • Binary Arithmetic
  • Set Theory and Venn Diagrams
  • Logical Propositions and Truth Tables
  • Cartesian Products and Relations
  • Reflexive, Symmetric, and Transitive Properties
  • Digraphs and Hasse Diagrams

afterthoughts

I've always enjoyed logic so it was good to get back to it in a very dedicated way. It was also somewhat relaxing to manually calculate some hex values by hand. But I don't expect to that on the daily basis. I think I will buy myself a copy of "Discrete Mathematics with Applications" by Susanna S. Epp.
